The horror stories of the in-laws. I don’t get them. Mothers-in-law are supposed to be monsters, bitches, whatever? I guess I must’ve picked the short straw from the stack then. I have the best in-laws ever, and I love them. Like… not love them in the American way, but love them genuinely in the solid Finnish way. And my mother-in-law… she’s -together with my own mom- the best mom you could ever wish for. Now that the Better Half is gone, she calls me on a regular basis to see how I’m doing, if I’m still alive and taking care of myself well, and invites me over for dinner in the weekends. And feels guilty if we have to skip a weekend, because she can’t, and even when I can’t. Bless her!

Funny thing… Little background story needed here, so be patient with me.

I’m Dutch, and I tend to think that I have a good sense of humor. I like to pull a prank every now and again. My mom-in-law’s Finnish, and she also has a sense of humor, but it’s more Finnish (duh!). It’s totally different from mine, obviously, and that made it all the more fun *grins* And I don’t know if I’m such a comic, but I seem to keep a straight face in many situations, making it hard for people to see if I’m joking or not. My mom-in-law especially had -and still has- problems to figure out if I’m joking or not, which is still a lot of fun 🙂

So… For awhile already I’ve been suspecting that, whenever me and the Better Half are coming over for dinner, she’s purposefully preparing too much, so she can by the way ask me if I want to take some home for lunch or dinner the next day (bless her! 😀 ). And I always go like “ummmm… hmmmm… Okay!”
Once they were over for dinner at our place and we (or rather the Better Half, I’m not such a spectacular cook, no matter what She’s going to say in any comment about it! 😉 ) had made a bit too much. After cleaning up the table I turned to my mom-in-law -straight-faced, of course- and asked her “Do you want me to put this in a bowl for you for lunch tomorrow?
I don’t think deep down she ever thought I was completely serious, but the look on her face was just priceless, nonetheless. I simply couldn’t keep my straight face and broke out in a wide grin after which she understood I was pulling her leg. She chased me into the kitchen for it 😀 It still gets me grinning when I think about it.

Anyway… Yesterday I went for dinner and it was delicious as ever. And yesterday I got two small bowls with food home to eat for lunch today and it will be delicious. Bless her!
Forgive me for the not so nice presentation, but I couldn’t lay it out on a plate and everything. It tastes a lot better than it looks crammed in small plastic bowls and mom-in-law deserves all the credit. She’s a great cook (I know whom the Better Half got it from! 🙂 ).

Cows are probably one of the most photographed animals. And one of the most prominently visible animals on funny post cards and stuff. Why?
They’re so dang curious and they stuff their nose IN your lens if only you give them the opportunity.

I was out with the wide angle and that makes things even worse, because you get in so close and when you look through the view finder you don’t realize how close you are really… Until you get a wet slimy slobber on your glass.
But nonetheless… got myself a couple of those post cards 😀

I seemed to have gotten into a bad-movie watching habit with one of my best friends. We’ve seen a good number of them, and really, if you’re in the right mood, they actually CAN turn into good movies.
For example… I saw Guesthouse Paradiso in the movie theater. It’s right up there with Plan 9 from outer space. Really, it’s that bad. But I thought it was hilarious. I cried while watching, nearly soiled myself and had a terrible muscle ache in my abdomen the next day.
See… I was in the right mood when I saw Guesthouse Paradiso.

Now… For my birthday my friend gave me Farce of the Penguins. You know, like March of the Penguins, but then a lot worse. I think it’s mainly because of Bob Saget. MAN! That guy just doesn’t have it. Full House was ok still, but America’s Funniest Homevideos… That was just sad. The man’s got no sense of humor, or at least, he has no clue how to be funny or bring things in a funny way.
Anyway… Farce of the Penguins is a movie I’ll have to watch again when I’m in that mood. Tonight it just didn’t do it for me.
Surprisingly, there WAS someone who it did something to.

Cassandra, our dear cat, couldn’t be dragged away from the tv. It was like she was reading the subtitles. And she was looking so intensively at the tv that it made watching the movie (or actually her) worthwile 😀

Ok, it’s not the best picture ever, and I know it’s out of focus, but it’s dang near the funniest picture ever.
I can’t help but go back to this image and every time it cracks me up.
For some reason it reminds me of Bill Clinton in court swearing to the judge and jury “I DID NOT HAVE SEX WITH THAT WOMAN!”.
Don’t ask me why…
