So it’s early morning… Sun’s rising, fog’s coming up from the water, which, by the way, is totally still…
Lovely! It was kind of chilly, but refreshing. If I wasn’t dying to go back to bed (after sleeping for only a few hours), I would’ve sat down on the pier and… just sat…

It’s a hard life… Working the graveyard shift. Getting to bed at 3am and getting up again at 7am to shoot some pictures… (I know, 7am isn’t even THAT early, but after 4 hours of sleep it is!). Luckily around here come fall/winter the sun rises later, so you don’t have to get up at 3am to shoot a sunrise. Or some mist, for that matter.
After the mist I wrote about earlier I wanted to see if I could get some more. Of course I could.
You’d think that with all the bright and vibrant fall colors, all you’d want to do is shoot color, right?
Well… I squeezed in a black and white one. The mist does it quite justice, I must say.

Sometimes you pass a scene that makes you want to return. And of course it’s never the same when you return. It was like that here too, but the scene was still pretty.

When these guys come out, you know “that” time has come.
“That” time in “this” country means an abundance of colors, shapes and other goodies to take pictures of.
Other pictures will follow, I have no doubt, but for now I’m sticking to this particular (poisonous) hallucinogen: the fly agaric.

Apparently in the early days it was used as an insecticide and it clearly works well. This bug isn’t peacefully enjoying its sunny day, it’s RIP-ing in its colorful coffin. The mushroom isn’t a flesh eater, though.
Promised some studio stuff still. So here you go. And that really was pretty much the last of fall. Onto winter, snow and cold.

Wow… I was a bit too optimistic with yesterday’s prognoses of having a few more days.

I think I have a few more days before this gorgeous autumn will have run its course… Shame. I’ve been out way too little.
The other day, when I brought my friends to the airport for their trip back home I passed this beautiful stretch of land which was … can’t even describe it … explosively lit by the setting sun. Clear blue sky, autumn colors, camera at home… Right… Crap… Will have to come back. Sun will have set, light will be different. Tomorrow, same time… Drizzle, overcast… Double-crap! Day after tomorrow… Triple…! ARGH! Don’t you just hate it!
But today…! I’m allowed to have some luck, right? Patience is a virtue!

I think tomorrow still… Then the fire’ll go out quickly. There was frost on the windows of the car already, and there’s even been some snow already downtown, so… But I saved some for a home-studio experiment. More on that another day 🙂

A couple of days ago I wrote about the beautiful sunset over Seurasaari. The same day I shot this sunset I also had the privilege of shooting the wedding of a wonderful Finnish/Japanese couple. The church ceremony was in Temppeliaukionkirkko (where I went scouting on Day 9) in Helsinki. I also went scouting on Seurasaari and both days I went scouting the weather was dreadful. I was preparing for a lot of improvisation, but lucky for the couple getting married, but also very lucky for me, the weather turned around 180 degrees despite the forecasts for more rain. The day of the wedding was a glorious day in many ways.
And I was the lucky photographer, who was invited home to the couple twice -before and after the wedding- to enjoy a fabulous Japanese dinner. I almost feel guilty charging them for the shoot. A great experience it was!
