Before the bug I re-acquainted myself with another old friend.

I must say that these “little” loudmouths have been surprisingly quiet since I’ve arrived here. I haven’t heard them much, and not at all during the night. That may change with the weather, though, let’s wait and see/hear…

Normally speaking I don’t wake up during the night for a toilet break. It may be that the crashing of the waves on the beach has some influence on that. It’s been very windy here and the ocean’s been quite rough.
Anyway… The other night I almost tripped over a big beetle, last night it was another beetle. Slightly smaller, and normally crawling, but still of respectable size. This one was slow, though, unlike the one from the other night.

It would’ve been better for the “little” critter if it HAD been a bit faster. Not long after I shot these pictures, my buddy Mr L (proudly named after the L-shape of his tail) came to look what I was doing lying flat on the floor and decided that his evening snack was way beyond due.
So after playing with his food a bit (I told him not to, but he didn’t listen), he scooped it up and crunched the proteins away (I save you THAT much cruelty, but the playing was fun 😀 ).

The last time we were in Holland we spent a few nights at friends with cats. It’s funny how cats always seem to notice that you know how to handle them, or that you have (had) cats (before) yourself. These two are also a couple of funky little creatures, with their own little attitudes 😀

Did I ever mention I luuuuuuuuuuv my 50mm f/1.4? Love the depth of field, love the bokeh, love its sharpness… If you don’t have a 50mm prime like that, go get one. Now!!

I’ve wrote about it before, but with different titles. I found this one actually quite an appropriate title. It’s slowly turning into a small collection. I guess for cat lovers it may be a funny series 😀

So… peek-a-boo 😉

And it was very interesting! 🙂
To say the least.

So easy to handle… so sweet… so… hmmm… soft…
And… nice to sit on…

Now, ALL OF YOU!!! GET OUT OF IT!!! What the hell are you all thinking???
You perverts! Dammit!
This is NOT THAT kind of blog!

Although…
Sometimes when you see a nice (other) ass…
You may want to try to hide the tools that are directly affected by it… 😀

My friend also brought his companion. The sweetest dog, crazy about bananas. Yep, really!
And such a good and patient model. As a reward she got to walk around in the sun and through the forest the whole day! 🙂

A week and a half or so ago I was contacted by UK new agency Caters News with the request to give them some background information on one of my images, because they wanted to do a story on it. If you’ve been reading this blog, you may recognize the picture:

Siberian tiger leaping out of the water of a shallow pond

I of course happily obliged and I got to read the copy and with some changes (I did really tell them that tigers love water, but they haven’t changed the header of the article) I okay-ed it. A day or so later I got a mail from the contact person saying that probably it would take a week or maybe still a few before it was published on their website, because there was still another article running involving tiger(s). No problem for me.
It was a nice surprise to find a Google alert on my name (yeah, I have those) in the Daily Mail. It appeared that the agency had offered the article to several news papers and the Daily Mail was the first one to take it on. You can read all about it here!

I’ve got some stuff published before, but never this prominent in such a big paper, so I was quite excited.
You can imagine my increase in excitement when, that same evening, I got a mail from the Times, that they were also interested in doing a piece with the picture.
And you can imagine my excitement went sky-high, when the next day I got a mail from the agency telling me that the images were also published in the printed editions of – next to the Times – the Telegraph, the Mirror, and the Record.

Good stuff going on!
So jumping on the band-wagon, you can now order your own canvas print for on your wall.

It’s hard to tell a dog that there are appropriate sizes for everyone.
Especially this particular cutie seemed to be determined to bring back anything you threw away. I tried with a log I just managed to lift and he went after it and tried to drag it back. To no avail, of course 😀

Oh, and challenge of the day:
Try panning this!

It’s funny… Most of the pictures I put here are snapshots, nothing spectacular or of any super artistic value. This is another one. It’s just “one of those”. But for some reason this one really appeals to me. Can’t really put my finger on it why…

Not quite sure what the cats’ fascination is with snow, but when it snows, they’re always up on the window sill looking outside, almost in trance…
